“Christian, you ought to pay us 20 million dollars in emotional damages for our daughter!” Timothy demanded.
Christian’s face turned pale. “Twenty million? I already gave Peyton two million! You can check if you don’t believe me!”
With a wave of Timothy’s hand, two large men pinned Christian down. “Christian Clark, let me tell you this. Because of your violence, Peyton has lost the ability to have children forever! You must compensate her with 20 million!”
Christian struggled fiercely. “Are you people out of your mind? The child in Peyton’s womb wasn’t even mine! She tricked me with another man’s baby and humiliated me! I don’t have 20 million! Check my company accounts if you don’t believe me!”
However, the Sullivans were not buying it.
“No cash? Sell your car and your house, then! If you can’t scrape together 20 million, you’re not leaving this place!”
Christian broke free and tried to run, but the Sullivan family quickly caught up with him. They surrounded him and began beating him mercilessly, and his groans grew louder with each hit.
Despite everything, I could not help but feel a pang of sympathy. Hence, I quietly called the police and an ambulance.
That was the last thing I was willing to do for Christian. I slipped away before the authorities arrived.
My Juni was waiting for me back at the hotel.
Two weeks later, I had finally packed everything and purchased our plane tickets. I was ready to leave with Juni.
After checking out of the hotel, I was shocked to see Christian standing in a corner. His defeated expression made him look like a man who had lost all hope.
He waved weakly when he noticed me, but I tried to pretend I had not seen him.
Nonetheless, Christian did not let me go that easily as he began running toward me. As soon as he got close, he dropped to his knees, causing a crowd to gather and stare.
Tears streamed down Christian’s face as he wailed, “Shiloh! You can leave if you want, but give me my child! Juni is my daughter! You can’t be so cruel! You can’t let her grow up without a father! I’ve put so much effort into raising Juni. If you take her away from me, you’ll be taking my life!”
Christian’s cries grew louder. He was painting himself as the victim and me as the villain. The crowd began murmuring, pointing fingers at me as if I were the one tearing apart a family.
I held Juni tightly and stared coldly at Christian
“Christian, what is this act now? Ever since the day Juni was born, when have you ever cared about her? Don’t think a few tears and some drama will convince me to send her into a living nightmare!”
Christian crawled closer, trying to grab my leg, but I stepped away.
He wiped his tears. “Shiloh, you can’t say that! Juni carries my How can I not care about her?”
She’s half mine!
