Chapter 5
Wesley started losing his patience.
“Fine. I’ll renew the contract for another year. Take it as payment for your wife’s life. I’ll also arrange for her body to be sent back to the Rockwell’s mansion. That’s the most I can do.”
Noah couldn’t hold back anymore and punched Wesley’s face.
“Say that again! I never allowed you to touch her! I’ll kill you!”
He hit Wesley over and over with fierce blows.
The beating was so bad that Wesley ended up in the hospital.
Right after Wesley was taken to the hospital, reports came out. All the women he had hurt in the past came forward and accused him of coercion.
As soon as he got out of the hospital, he was sent straight to jail.
Lately, Noah had been avoiding facing my death. He couldn’t even bring himself to see my body.
Andrew was the one who took charge and arranged my funeral.
In the Rockwell family, no one dared to mention my name anymore. It became something people avoided talking about.
On the day of my funeral, Noah came back drunk. As soon as he walked in, Billy ran over and hugged his legs.
“Daddy, I don’t want Mommy to die. Can you bring her back?”

Maybe it was the word “die” that made Noah snap.
He stopped, picked Billy up with one hand, and slurred out, “Who told you she’s dead? She’s not!
“And why didn’t you call her ‘Mommy‘ before?”
Billy struggled in the air and started crying after being questioned like
that.
A maid quickly stepped in, said Andrew was looking for Billy, and took him away.
Seven days after I passed, everyone came to pay respects–except for Noah.
He stayed in his room, quietly sitting on the bed and crumpling the divorce agreement I left behind.
WELK
For a long time, he just stared at the wedding photo hanging on the wall.
I wore a simple wedding dress, smiling brightly as I leaned against him.
But his face looked cold and emotionless.
He had married me for revenge. He even found the cheapest ring and dress for me.
But I hadn’t thought much of it. I just focused on being a good wife.
Over time, he had started to care for me. But he could never let go of the fact that his mother died because of me.
Suddenly, he thought he saw me walking toward him. He wrapped his arms around the figure.
“Liora, is it you? Are you back?”
He breathed in the scent, expecting gardenia, but it smelled like pungent

black opium.
That was when he realized he wasn’t hugging me.
It was Margaret. She gently touched his face.
“Noah, let me be your wife. I can give you everything she did.”
She wore a revealing dress and leaned into him.
Noah shoved her away angrily. “Who let you in here? Get out!”
Her face turned pale with anger and frustration.
When I was still alive, Noah had brought Margaret home more than once. and even let Billy call her mommy.
She thought she had a special place in his heart. Now that I was gone, she thought she had won.
But instead of moving on, Noah couldn’t stop thinking about me.
Margaret couldn’t accept it. She placed her hand on her belly with a scheming look.
“Noah, I’m pregnant with your child.”
He stared at her stomach, showing a meaningful smile.
“Are you sure it’s mine?”
Margaret flinched at his direct gaze. But she knew it was her only shot to stay in the Rockwell family.
“The baby is yours. Don’t you believe me?”
He smirked. “When exactly did you get pregnant?”
Chapter 5
“A–April.”
As soon as Margaret answered, Noah dragged her to the hospital.
She thought it was for a checkup, but it turned out to be a DNA test.
An hour later, he tossed the results in her face.
Margaret stared in disbelief.
“The baby isn’t yours? That can’t be! During my last cycle, I-”
“Do you mean you’ve done something?”
Noah grabbed her chin, his eyes full of disgust.
He had always been careful. No other woman could ever carry his child. That was his bottom line.
Margaret stood frozen, then laughed bitterly.
“People say you’re a playboy. It seems that you’re lovesick. Sadly, Liora will never know how much you loved her. She’s gone! Hahaha…”
Watching her fall apart, Noah grew colder.
That day, she was kicked out of dance school.
She had stolen items from the Rockwell Group’s stores. Noah sent her a legal notice, accusing her of fraud.
Soon, she went back to her old job.
Even though ten thousand people watched her livestreams, no one dared to give her any gifts.
In the months that followed, Noah felt like he was drifting. There was a constant emptiness, like a part of him was missing.
Chapter 5
Sometimes at night, parched and half–asleep, he would mumble, “Liora, bring me some water.”
But when he turned and felt the cold space beside him, it felt like a weight pressed on his chest.
One day, Noah returned to the Rockwell’s mansion. While walking past the study, he overheard Andrew arguing with his grandmother, Gianna Rockwell.
A wave of fear and helplessness washed over him.
